Andrew McFarlane back to Kawasaki in 2008 -ozzy go- fullnoise.com.au
Australian Andrew McFarlane will ride Kawasaki again in 2008
after being named as part of the line-up for the newly formed,
Xtreme Pro Lites Kawasaki racing team that will compete in both
the 2008 AMA Supercross and Motocross Championship.
Built on its successful amateur program Xtreme Team Green, the
Xtreme Pro Lites program is expected to offer a natural
progression as Kawasaki’s top amateur riders make the transition
into the professional ranks.
“It only seemed right that we have a complete connection
between amateur and pro,” said Dave Gowland, Team Green™
Motocross Supervisor. “This is a true farm club and we are
working together to build a better program that will not only
benefit Kawasaki but provide Xtreme Pro Lites and Mitch Payton
at Pro Circuit with a higher class of rider.”
Led by former MotoSport Outlet Kawasaki manager Bill Keefe, the
rider line-up will include Tommy Hahn, Kyle Chisholm, Phil
Nicolette, and McFarlane. The team will field two riders to
compete in the East and West AMA Supercross Lites along with

Ryno still charges
This weekend saw the International Oceania Motocross
Championship which was held in Australia at the Baarabool
circuit.
The southern hemispheres best racers were there including
Josh Coppins, Daryl Hurley and Craig Anderson. Australia
came out on top and took the coveted title.
One rider who made the trip to Melbourne was American
ace Ryan Hughes, MOTO managed to get roving reporter
Stuart Flockhart who happened to be in OZ for a holiday to
ask the veteran star, what’s going down in Ryno’s world.

I first met Australian Andrew McFarlane at the 2005
Motocross of Nations in France – where he had just
finished runner-up in the World Motocross MX2
(Lites) Championships and was preparing to move to
America. Racing for Yamaha of Troy, McFarlane
was a revelation in last years AMAToyota Motocross
Lites Championships. A perennial top five, and often
podium finisher, I really thought 2008 would be an
even better year as he now had some time to adjust lo
living in America. But after being injured during
supercross, McFarlane has yet to really find his
previous form. Now with news on his team (Rockstar
Suzuki) disbanding, and after talking with him at
Thursday night’s MotoBowl event, I corralled Andrew
in his motor home to ask him about his current

Tedesco Out for Glen Helen
Makita Suzuki's Ivan Tedesco went down yesterday in practice
and has been suffering from symptoms of a concussion. He will

In his first AMA Pro race new Monster Energy Pro Circuit
Kawasaki rider Austin Stroupe takes the first moto holeshot and
finished the moto in second! He crashed near the beginning of
moto two and rounded lap one in about last place, but eventually
worked his way to finish the second moto in 12th – for fourth
overall!
First Race Jitters?
Although it was not “officially” stated, the way I understand it,
Austin Stroupe was the rider that caused Monster Energy Pro
Circuit Kawasaki teammates Ryan Villopoto and Ben Townley to
go down at the start of moto one.
Izzi’s On It!
Another rookie who was also very impressive at Steel City as
Makita Suzuki’s Nico Izzi scored fifth overall. Earlier in the
weekend he told me he wanted a top eight; so I’m sure that he’s
smiling now!
Tenth for Trey
Third AMA Pro rookie Trey Canard took his Sobe Samsung No
Fear Honda to tenth overall. Canard was also involved in the first
turn crash in moto one that derailed Villopoto and Townley. But in
moto two he earned a hard fought fifth place finish – much of the
race he battled with Nico Izzi, until he took control just after the
mid-point.

Meet Makita Suzuki's Nico Izzi August 26, 2007
I first met Michigan’s Nico Izzi when he was probably just 12
years old at a race in Michigan – which he dominated! Now the
just turned 17 year old is a full fledged Makita Suzuki factory pro!
Coming off a very impressive tenth overall at his very first AMA
Pro motocross, I caught up with Nico in the Steel City pits to

Ryan Dungey Breaks Collarbone
Makita Suzuki's Ryan Dungey went down in the first practice at
Steel City and has broken his collarbone, effectively ending his
2007 Motocross season.
In an effort to get the break taken care of as soon as possible,
Dungey is already attempting to find the first flight back so that
he can get his collarbone pinned. vitalmx.com

Ryan Dungey Out For Six Weeks
Looks like Makita Suzuki's rookie sensation Ryan Dungey will
miss the rest of the AMA Toyota Motocross Championships
presented by FMF after breaking his clavicle during practice on
Saturday at Steel City. The 17-year-old Dungey is visiting his
doctor in Minneapolis today and should know more about the
status later this week, but the early prognosis is that he will
need a plate inserted to help repair the injury, and the
recovery time for that is six weeks. With just three rounds
left in the championship, Dungey will not return this summer.
As for his off-season schedule, that is still up in the air.

Ferry to replace injured Stewart on MXoN team
AMA Racing announced today that Tim Ferry will replace James
Stewart on the 2007 Monster AMA Team USA in this year’s Red
Bull Motocross of Nations (MXoN) scheduled for Sept. 22-23, at
Budds Creek Motocross Raceway in Maryland.
Ferry will join Ricky Carmichael and Ryan Villopoto both of whom
were named to the American team on Aug.1
James Stewart injured his left knee while competing in round
eight of the AMA Toyota Motocross Championship presented by
FMF on July 28-29 at Washougal Motocross Park in Washougal,
WA.
AMA Racing Motocross/Supercross Director Steve Whitelock
commented on the change. “Of course, we’re disappointed that
James will be unable to represent the United States and
participate in this year’s MXoN. James did a fantastic job for the
team last year and there’s no question that he is one of the
world’s premier motocross riders. At the same time, we’re
confident that Tim will be able to join the team and help us keep
the trophy in the United States. Tim is having one of his best
seasons ever in AMA Motocross and that momentum and
confidence will be a factor at the MXoN.”
Tim Ferry is tied with Andrew Short for the AMA Motocross class
championship lead with three rounds remaining and is one of only
four riders to card an overall win this year in the series.
Whitelock added that this year is similar to the 2006 Motocross of
Nations when Ivan Tedesco was named to the team to fill in for
Ricky Carmichael who was injured and unable to compete.
Tedesco joined Stewart and Villopoto on AMA Team USA and the
three were victorious. From 1981 to 1993, the United States was
undefeated in the Motocross of Nations, winning 13 straight times.
Team USA also won in 1996, 2000 and 2005, as well as last year.
The Budd’s Creek event marks just the second time the
Motocross of Nations has been held in the United States. In 1987
the event was held at the Unadilla Valley Sports Center in New
Berlin, New York. Motorcycle Hall of Fame members Bob Hannah,
Ricky Johnson and Jeff Ward won that event competing in
extremely tough, muddy conditions which many had predicted
favored the leading European riders of the time. Fullnoise

Welcome to the Shift Number Cruncher. Last weekend’s Millville
National was a pretty big weekend for out sport. It served as a
farewell for Ricky Carmichael’s outdoor career, as well as a
cornerstone for a trend that has been going on for many years.
This trend sees the hottest up-and-coming prospects from Loretta
Lynn’s throw on a three-digit number and finally have a chance to
show the world what they have. Trey Canard, Nico Izzi, and Kyle
Keylon took to the track with the big boys for the first time last
weekend and, for the most part, they raised some eyebrows. This
refreshed my memory about all of the guys that jumped from
frying pan of amateur racing directly into the boiling oil of the pro
ranks. Everybody is always waiting on the next big thing. Is this
guy the next Bob Hannah? Is that guy the next Jeremy McGrath?
Will these new guys be as fast and Carmichael and Bubba? It all
begins with a huge ball of hormones and fresh energy. Some
riders use that big number for two or three races, then never
break out of the top 20 in AMA points. Others never make it past
three-digit fame. Here are some notable guys that graduated
