After winning the 2007 Las Vegas U.S. Open and grabbing
second overall at the Paris Bercy Supercross, Grant Langston
was poised to give Chad Reed a run for his money in this year’s
Monster Energy Supercross series. After a fourth place finish at
Anaheim I, it seemed as though Langston was merely off to a
slow start. But as the series progressed, things began to take a
turn for the worse for GL, and at Anaheim III the South African
made the difficult decision not to race due to blurred vision in
his left eye. For Langston, the problem has proven to be more
than just a bump in the road or in motocross terms, a rut in the
track, it’s turned into something that he has to get fixed. read

Grant Langston Update
Ping (David Pingree) got in touch with Team Yamaha's Grant
Langston today for an update. Here's what Ping said:
Grant saw an eye specialist and it's exactly what they thought
in the first place; there's some type of fluid leaking behind his
eye which caused his vision to get blurry. The Doctor said it
may be from a past concussion, but they're not really sure. It
could even be stress-induced. He's going to a UCLA specialist
today to have some sort of Lasik surgery performed to stop
the fluid from leaking. He's definitely not racing this weekend
and he's not sure how long he'll be out.
Stay tuned to Racer X Online for further updates as we
learn more on Langston's condition.

Grant Langston Back In The Premier SX Class Top Ten With 5th @ San Fran
Monster Energy’s Grant Langston (Yamaha) used his
championship Outdoor National MX skills to his advantage
in the mud-clogged Supercross class main event at San
Francisco’s AT&T Park this past Saturday, Round Four of
2008 Monster Energy AMA Supercross, and FIM World
Championship.
Langston, the reigning AMA Outdoor National MX champ,
overcame an early heat race crash to put up a heroic run
that had him all the way up to 4th place – only to cross rut
and crash again in the same spot – settling for the 6th place
transfer spot.
In the Supercross class main event, shortened from 20 laps
to 15 due to the heavy rain, Langston got a mid pack start
and had moved up rapidly into the top ten by the end of the
second lap when he crashed and fell back to near last place.
He managed to get his YZ450F back on the track and into
contention quickly, making up seven places in the next two
laps which put him a click away from the top ten.
“It certainly was wild out there,” said Langston. “I’d gone
down a couple times in my heat race, but knew everyone
else was having difficulties as well and it was possible to
pick up places in a hurry. So I was pushing it early when I
went down and decided it92d be best to try and keep it
upright and salvage some points.
“I was able to make it back into the top ten and eventually
to 5th. This does a lot to set ourselves up for a run at the
podium at the last Anaheim race this weekend.”
Langston, who’d finished 20th and 18th in the previous to
Supercross class main events, moved into 12th place overall
in the standings – just two points out of the top ten.
Next up for Monster Energy’s Grant Langston is Anaheim 3
at Angels Stadium, Feb. 2, Round Five of Monster Energy

CORONA, Calif., (Jan. 7, 2008) – Monster Energy’s Grant
Langston (Yamaha), the reigning U.S. Open of Supercross
and Bercy Supercross champion, picked up right were he
left off this past fall in challenging for the overall podium at
the opening round of 2008 Monster Energy AMA Supercross,
an FIM World Championship, at Anaheim’s (Calif.) Angels
Stadium.
“Yeah, I felt pretty good. Should have been on the podium,
but given the conditions I’ll take what I got,” said Langston.
“Certainly could have been worse.”
After scoring a rather ho-hum 5th place finish in his heat
race Langston exploded in the Supercross class main,
blazing a trail to 2nd place overall after the first lap, then
inheriting the lead when fellow Yamaha racer Chad Reed
went down.
Langston then the race for the next several laps, much to
the appreciation of his adopted hometown of Lake Elsinore,
Calif., - home of Langston Racing - and the fans from
southern California. full story on monsterenergy.com

ANAHEIM -- Grant Langston is accustomed to winning.
Among his accomplishments aboard a motorcycle are a 125cc
world motocross championship, a 125cc American Motorcyclist
Association national motocross championship and back-to-back
Supercross Lites championships for Kawasaki. So when the
likable South African changed employers last year and moved
up in class to the big 450cc bikes for the 2007 supercross
season, more of the same was expected.
But it was not to be. A 20th-place finish in his first race at Angel
Stadium of Anaheim was followed by a practice crash that
resulted in a broken collarbone and a sprained right wrist. So
much for his debut for Yamaha.
"Last year at this time, I felt a little bit alone," Langston said
Thursday from Angel Stadium, the venue for tonight's AMA
Supercross season opener.
With a new team and a new bike, the last thing Langston needed
was down time. "I only started riding the Yamaha about mid-
November last year," he said. "My fitness was down, and I got a
late start. Everything was new, the bike and all. "I didn't have a
lot of track time. We started off behind the 8-ball." full story on

Reed Wins Again At Bercy SX
USA leads race for team title
Chad Reed continued his run for the Bercy Supercross title with yet another
main event win in Bercy Stadium at the 25th running of the Bercy Supercross
classic in Paris. Tonight’s win, however, was in doubt until the final few laps
of the 15-lap race.
Grant Langston grabbed the holeshot to start the main and quickly pulled
away to a secure lead while Reed got squeezed out in the first turn and
finished the opening lap in fourth.
Langston enjoyed relatively fresh air out front while fellow Yamaha rider
Reed was forced to battle his way past Honda riders Andrew Short and
Jeremy McGrath before he could even think about making a run at
Langston.
Once in second, Reed started to reel the fleeing Langston, setting up what
might have been a suspenseful finish. However, Langston helped Reed’s
cause by crashing wildy off the side of a jump with just four laps to go,
handing Reed a clear path to victory.
With Langston out of the picture, Reed cruised home with the easy win
while Short came home with a well-deserved second.
Langston rebounded for third, while KTM’s Justin Brayton turned in a
spectacular ride, working his way though traffic after a bad start to finish
fourth.
Honda’s Josh Grant improved on last night’s performance to finish fifth with
McGrath adding to Team America’s cause with a sixth.
Reed now holds a commanding lead in the race for the “King of Bercy” title,
while the US squad holds the edge in the team standings. cyclenews.com

Monday Conversation: Grant Langston October 15, 2007
Grant Langston knows how to make something out of chaos.
That would make him a good choice to win a U.S. Open, but
he would have to go through James Stewart and Chad Reed to
take the money. Langston was second to Reed the first night
in Vegas, and Stewart had pulled out. That meant the $100K
was on the line the second night, but in the first turn of the
main, he was on the ground! Reed, Ferry, Short, and
Langston all hit the deck, and it seemed the money was
speeding away. Langston got back up, but the madness was
just starting. At one point, Short and Reed tangled and went
backward on the start straight and tipped over. Just as they
got back up, it looked like the two were practicing starts and
coming right for him. It was just a crazy race.... interview on

Grant Langston Wins Overall Title & $100,000 @ Vegas’ Rockstar U.S. Open
Monster Energy’s Grant Langston (Yamaha) closed out the
2007 competition motocross season with a bang, winning the
prestigious $100,000 Rockstar U.S. Open of Supercross this
past weekend at Vegas’ MGM Grand.
Langston, who just last month captured the AMA Outdoor
Nationals MX title, placed 2nd to Chad Reed at Friday’s U.S.
Open contest, then came from nearly last place to finish 5th
in Saturday’s contest – which was good enough for 1st place
overall, including a $100,000 check from promoter Live
Nation.
“Fans definitely got to see some wild racing,” said Langston
of his Saturday come-from-behind effort and 2nd/5th overall
finishes that beat Reed’s 1st/8th finishes. “That was a lot of
fun. Thanks again to Monster Energy for getting on board
with me this season. I’m glad I was able to deliver at the U.S.
Open this weekend.”
Langston will receive a much-needed break before the AMA
Supercross season opens up at Anaheim’s Angels Stadium
the first weekend in January, 2008. monsterenergy.com

Thor US Open Race Report
The 2007 Rockstar U.S. Open of Supercross was held this past
weekend in Las Vegas, NV. An all-star rider list set the stage for a
preview of the '08 Supercross season and for the first time at the
Open the Lites and the SX class were combined to form a stacked
Open class.
Night 1:
Thor's Chad Reed started off the night with a win in the Superpole
competition taking home the first cash prize of $10K. Chad also
went on to win his heat.
With the qualifiers out of the way, it was on to the main event.
Chad Reed jumped out to an impressive holeshot, adding to his
winnings for the night. After the holeshot, Reed ran away with the
race. Dodging lapped traffic he held on for the win with Grant
Langston picking up the second spot. Andrew Short rounded out
the podium.
Night 2:
Chad Reed started off night 2 with a heat win rockin' the all new
Thor OG Core gear. Although missing out on the Holeshot, he
quickly took over the lead from Billy Laninovich and held on for
win with Tim Ferry coming in 2nd.
Night 2's main event went a bit differently for the win favorites.
Chad Reed got caught in a first turn pile up leaving Jake Weimer
to grab the holeshot. Chad tried to regain his composure and
work his way through the pack but hit the dirt twice more leaving
him with an 8th for the nights racing. Jake Weimer ended up
holding on for the top spot with Josh Demuth and Mike Alessi
filling the podium. With the disappointing end to a great start of a
weekend, Chad still managed to take home the 2nd overall for
the event. Grant Langston worked his way up to 5th in the final
giving him enough points for the title of 2007 U.S. Open Champion
and a $100K bonus check. racerxill.com & thormx.com
