Reed Wins Again At Bercy SX

USA leads race for team title
Chad Reed continued his run for the Bercy Supercross title with yet another
main event win in Bercy Stadium at the 25th running of the Bercy Supercross
classic in Paris. Tonight’s win, however, was in doubt until the final few laps
of the 15-lap race.

Grant Langston grabbed the holeshot to start the main and quickly pulled
away to a secure lead while Reed got squeezed out in the first turn and
finished the opening lap in fourth.

Langston enjoyed relatively fresh air out front while fellow Yamaha rider
Reed was forced to battle his way past Honda riders Andrew Short and
Jeremy McGrath before he could even think about making a run at
Langston.

Once in second, Reed started to reel the fleeing Langston, setting up what
might have been a suspenseful finish. However, Langston helped Reed’s
cause by crashing wildy off the side of a jump with just four laps to go,
handing Reed a clear path to victory.

With Langston out of the picture, Reed cruised home with the easy win
while Short came home with a well-deserved second.

Langston rebounded for third, while KTM’s Justin Brayton turned in a
spectacular ride, working his way though traffic after a bad start to finish
fourth.

Honda’s Josh Grant improved on last night’s performance to finish fifth with
McGrath adding to Team America’s cause with a sixth.

Reed now holds a commanding lead in the race for the “King of Bercy” title,
while the US squad holds the edge in the team standings. cyclenews.com

Reed Wins First Night of Bercy Supercross

Jeremy McGrath delights the crowd with a 5th.
To the delight of a very vocal Parisian crowd, Jeremy McGrath
returned to Paris for the 25th running of the Bercy Supercross,
and he delighted the fans with great starts and an eventual sixth-
place finish on the first of three nights of racing, however it was
Chad Reed who stole the show, easily winning tonight’s main
event and putting himself in good shape to earn the coveted title
of “King of Bercy”.

After grabbing the holeshot in the final, Reed quickly put distance
between his L&M Yamaha and the rest of the pack while rivals
Grant Langston and Andrew Short suffered problems on the
opening lap. Shorty got off the gate in bad shape and was near
the back of the pack at the end of the first circuit, while Langston
gated well but had a rider land on the back of his motorcycle
just halfway into the opening lap.

Langston eventually worked his Yamaha back into third place
but ran out of time before he could catch Coisy for second.

Honda-mounted Short was also able to work the traffic well on
the tight and rutted course, moving into fourth by the 15th and
final lap. Meanwhile, Coulon held on for fifth, a few bike-lengths
in front of McGrath.

US hopefuls Justin Brayton and Josh Grant finished 10th and
11th, respectively. Brayton got a good start but was suffering
from set-up problems that had also plagued him during practice.
Meanwhile, Grant suffered a poor start and had difficulty
working his way through traffic. cyclenews.com

Catching Up With...Josh Grant 11.05.2007
TWMX caught up with the Sobe/No Fear/Samsung/Honda pilot,
Josh Grant, as he was taking a break from testing. A little R &
R for Grant, however, is a little more than kicking it in a lawn
chair. Instead, Josh likes to find big natural hits in the middle
of the dunes and get as much air as possible. In between
sessions, he sat down with TWMX to chat about the upcoming
Supercross season. interview on transworldmotocross.com

Josh Grant AMAMotocross.com Interview -ozzy go-

Beginning his AMA Pro career back in 2004, 21- year old Josh
Grant immediately showed his mettle with several podiums in
the AMA Motocross Lites series. Since then, Grant has been a
perennial front runner in both AMA Supercross and Motocross
Lites. In a year when the Lites Championships have been
stormed by Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki teammates,
Grant nonetheless won his first AMA Motocross Lites overall at
High Point Raceway. Now a solid third in the 2007 AMA
Motocross Lites Championship Presented by FMF, Grant turns
his head towards an all-out Championship year in 2008. click

AMA Toyota Motocross Championship Round 9: Millville -ozzy go- hondaredriders.com

In yet another amazing weekend in this anything-goes
2007 AMA MX season, Honda CRF450R factory rider
Andrew Short moved into a tie for the season’s points
lead, showing a remarkable combination of speed,
maturity and conditioning in his first season in the
premier AMA MX class.

Short’s characteristically consistent performance, with
a third place in the first moto and a fifth place in the
second, put him into a 311-point tie with veteran
rider Tim Ferry with just three rounds left in the
season.

Ricky Carmichael ended his AMA Motocross career in
typical style, winning both motos outright to capture
his 150th AMA Outdoor MX win. James Stewart opted
not to race Mill Valley, due to a persistent knee injury
suffered at Washougal, Washington two weeks ago.

Honda CRF450R rider Davi Millsaps was also sidelined
for the event, with possible inner ear problems
affecting his balance.

AMA MX Lites

Honda CRF250R rider Josh Grant kept up his string
of solid races to come away still holding third place
in the AMA MX Lites season’s points race.

Ben Townley switched moto wins with his teammate,
Ryan Villopoto, in their season-long battle for the
championship. Townley is usually faster in the
second Moto, but this time he won the first, only
to yield to Villopoto in the second.

X Games 13 - Practice Prose: Moto X Racing -ozzy go- expn.go.com

Moto X Racing (think SuperCross with a twist) makes it's debut at
X this year, and man alive, are people excited! Word is Los
Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa himself had a giant tattoo of
Ricky Carmichael's throttle finger on his lower back. That's hard
core. So, too, was their first practice at the Home Depot Center
this afternoon. Below is the scuttlebutt:

2007 AMA National MX Championship: Washougal -ozzy go- vitalmx.com

Wow, what a wild day! After comfortably winning the first moto,
James Stewart looked set to take his second-straight overall win
in the AMA Motocross class. But a crash near the end of the
second moto left him with a DNF, a 1-35 score for eighth overall,
and an appointment for an MRI on Monday to check out an
injured left knee.

With Stewart out, it looked like Grant Langston would take the
overall. He'd finished fourth in the first moto, and was leading the
second moto, with Kevin Windham (6th in the first moto) in
second, and Timmy Ferry (2nd in moto one) in third. While
Langston went on to take the win, Windham incorrectly thought
that he'd taken the checkered flag, and slowed, allowing Ferry to
pass him for second. Though Timmy nearly crashed before the
finish line trying to stay ahead of Windham, who was trying to
correct his mistake, he finished with a 2-2 score, and took the
overall win, saying, "This tops anything I've ever done."

The severity of James' injury calls into question both his
participation in the rest of the series, and the upcoming Motocross
of Nations, leaving Timmy Ferry and Andrew Short as possible leading candidates for the National Championship. There's a 15-
point spread between Stewart in first and Short in third, though there's only eight points between Short and Ferry.

In the Motocross Lites class, Ben Townley took yet another
overall win, though he split moto wins with his Monster Energy Pro
Circuit Kawasaki teammate, Ryan Villopoto. Ryan crashed on the
start of the second moto, and turned in an amazing ride, moving
from 40th to 20th in one lap, and finally charging to third by the
finish. Makita Suzuki's Ryan Dungey took third overall for the
day.

Townley now holds a two-point advantage in the chase for the
Lites title.
