Pastrana Wins 2007 Rally America National Championship -ozzy go-
(Oct 27, 2007)- Subaru Rally Team USA driver Travis Pastrana
has won the 2007 Rally America National Championship with a
hard-fought victory in the series finale this weekend at the Lake
Superior Performance Rally (LSPR). Pastrana charged on the final
stages of the rally to beat Tanner Foust by a mere 3.5 seconds
after covering over 100 miles of extremely challenging, high-
speed gravel and tarmac roads in Michigan's Upper Peninsula.
Pastrana, the motocross star turned rally driver is now the Rally
America National Champion for the second consecutive year.
The LSPR is notorious for variable weather conditions and this
weekend proved no different after sun, rain and snow appeared
within a matter of hours of each other. At the start of the rally all
eyes were on the three-way battle amongst championship points
contenders Pastrana, his Subaru Rally Team USA teammate Ken
Block and Australian Andrew Pinker, each piloting 2007 Subaru
Impreza WRX STI rally cars. However, Block retired early after
damaging his radiator, and Pastrana pulled away convincingly
from Pinker on Leg one. Thus Pastrana was in the driver's seat
and needed to simply stay in front of Pinker to retain his Rally
America National Champion title after having earned it with

Pastrana wins Red Bull X-Fighters Madrid and X-Fighters tour 2007! -ozzy go- fullnoise.com
Unable to keep their temper, the ten Red Bull X-Fighters participants literally took off at the
last of three tour stops in 2007. After all, the bullfighting arena of Las Ventas in Madrid was
the event’s home turf and the riders knew what they owed to the enthusiastic 23,000
spectator crowd with their chainsaws, white bandanas and air horns. But what counted just
as much as a good show for the fans was that this was the final chance to win the event or
even become the Red Bull X-Fighters tour champion 2007. Coming off as a winner of the
contest AND the tour was legendary Travis Pastrana (USA)!
The audience had gone totally crazy hours before the start of the show but when a shiny
(and loud!) Scuderia Toro Rosso Formula1 racing car driven by famous Formula1 pilot
Vitantonio Liuzzi (ITA) finally entered the arena madness was on at Las Ventas! The first
head-to-head round in the re-vamped freestyle motocross set-up (a quarterpipe was added
as a technical feature) saw the ten rider line-up being reduced to eight. Germany’s Busty
Wolter failed against Aussie boy Matt Schubring while Libor Podmol (CZE) excelled against
Ronnie Renner (USA).
In the second head-to-head round Andrè Villa (NOR) put on a super smooth and powerful
run but couldn’t come near his opponent, Swiss Mat Rebeaud. Although Rebeaud was riding
with a broken hand he never seemed to be fitter. His huge whips, airs and flips earned him
a position in the semi-final. “Unlucky” to ride against Travis Pastrana (USA), Japanese Eigo
Sato pushed it hard but his amazing flip combos and Rock Solids couldn’t keep up with
Pastrana’s trick set. Schubring found himself riding against local hero Dany Torres with
Torres and his whips, Tsunamis and flips stiring up unbelievable passion among the
audience. Welcome to the semi-final, Dany! Technically perfect Nate Adams was
programmed to excel so his Flintstones and Holygrabs sent him to the next round (to Libor
Podmol’s regret).
Following the passionate rock performance of Rosendo Mercado, one of the best rock ‘n’ roll
players in Spain, the 23,000 spectators were all fired up for the dramatic semi-final and
final. The semi-final saw Travis Pastrana compete against Dany Torres. Pastrana unleashed
some unbelievably high and super stylish tricks (Saran Flip, Nac Flip, 9 o’ clock Indian,
Heelclicker and Tsunami Flips, etc) and even let go of his bike in a Backflip up the dirt hill.
Although Torres was riding like a true FMX madman in front of his
Latino crowd he was under pressure and made a few mistakes.
Then, Mat Rebeaud’s pumped-up run provoked Nate Adams. The
US-American counterattacked with a series of technical tricks but
was too fast at a landing and crashed against the barriers of the
bullring. Nate broke his finger but thanked the crowd by taking his
shirt off and throwing it into the audience.
The finals were a display of guts, power, airtime, technical skills
and audience interaction. Both Rebeaud and Pastrana were
performing on a never before seen trick and riding level with
Travis finally being crowned the glorious winner of the Red Bull X-
Fighters in Madrid 2007 and also the entire 2007 tour. “I saw all
the guys doing Cliffhanger Backflips in the training and then Mat
Rebeaud put on such a good run with a broken hand,” says

When the 2006 freestyle season started, my focus had shifted to
rally racing. It was my second season driving rally cars, and I
was determined to win the title. Unfortunately, that meant
freestyle was getting even less of my attention. I went to the first
stop of the Dew Tour, in Louisville, without any new tricks, and I
lost to Nate Adams. He's still the only guy who's ever beaten me
in freestyle competition, and this was the third time he'd done it.
On the podium, I gave credit to Nate and accepted second place.
No excuses.
A couple of weeks later, I was watching the broadcast of the
contest, and the commentator asked Nate about beating me. "It
wasn't a big deal," he said. "I'm just better than Travis." Excuse
me? I was stunned.
I grabbed my phone and called Andy Bell, team manager at Ogio,
which sponsors Nate and me.
"Tell Nate to get off the couch, get on his bike and start working
his butt off. I'm coming with tricks he hasn't even imagined."

Slane Castle, just outside of Dublin, Ireland was the spectacular
setting for the second leg of the Red Bull X-Fighters World Tour,
on Saturday, May 26, 2007. More than 35,000 spectators watched
as Travis Pastrana won his third X-Fighters event, ahead of Swiss
rider Mat Rebeaud and Spaniard Dany Torres. With the head-to-
head final pitting Pastrana against Mat Rebeaud canceled due to
pouring Irish rain, the American was declared the winner of Red
Bull X-Fighters Slane Castle. The final tally was based on the
qualifying results from Friday, which Pastrana topped. Always the
good sport, Pastrana wanted to settle the match fair and square
with a game of Rock, Paper, Scissors, but alas, was rebuffed.
The 300-plus-year-old Slane Castle, which has hosted rock bands
such as REM, U2 and The Rolling Stones, provided the perfect
venue for the world’s best freestyle motocross riders to display
their talents, accompanied by top Irish bands Ash, The Blizzards
and Director. This was the biggest course ever to be used for an
FMX event. More than 800 truckloads containing 17,000 tons of
dirt were used to build the obstacle park featuring hills up to 17
feet high, and it was the premiere of the first-ever quarter pipe
to be used in an FMX contest. Jeremy Lusk (USA) finished fourth
