Maddo Breaks World Record on New Year’s Eve in Las Vegas -ozzy go- fullnoise.com.au
Australian motocross superstar Robbie Maddison literally leapt
into the pages of the Guinness Book of World Records by
jumping his motorcycle 322 feet 7½ inches over the length of a
regulation football field to shatter the previous record of 277
feet at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas.
The jump was the first-ever Red Bull Experiment, which involves
world-class athletes attempting world-first athletic achievements.
Telecast live on ESPN’s New Year, No Limits program shortly after
the ball dropped in Times Square signifying 2008, Maddison hit the
take-off ramp at 94 miles per hour on his Honda CR 500, reaching
a height of more than 60 feet, and soared into history.
“I came here to jump a football field,” said Maddison. “Conditions
weren’t perfect, but I’m happy with the result. Yesterday in
rehearsal, I went 350 feet and I knew 360 feet was achievable.
We did all we could, but the winds played a bigger factor than we
planned. But this is called the Red Bull Experiment, and we didn’t
know what the outcome would be. I just want to thank everyone
that made this jump possible and a big thanks to all the fans who
came out to support me. This is just the beginning.”
A who’s who of action and motorsports superstars cheered Maddo
on, including Olympic gold medalist Shaun White, 2006 MotoGP
World Champion Nicky Hayden, Olympic gold medalist Amanda
Beard and the family of the late Evel Knievel, to whom Maddison
dedicated his world record-breaking feat.
Maddison, who hails from the town of Kiama, two hours south of
Sydney, has achieved tremendous success in the freestyle
motocross world and is also the owner of two additional world
records – for the longest jump on a 125cc motorcycle (221 feet)
and the longest jump with a trick (246 feet). full story on

Big plans for New Year's Eve? Watching the ball drop

old Australian Robbie Maddison, he’s got other plans.
He’ll be attempting to set a new world record for
distance jumping aboard a Service Honda CR500 in
front of the Rio All Suite Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas,
as part of the Red Bull Experiment. Maddison’s feat
was supposed to run in conjunction with Rhys Millen’s
attempt to back-flip an off-road racing truck, but
unfortunately Rhys suffered a training accident and will

Australian Mick Fanning clinched his maiden Foster’s ASP World
Title after winning the Hang Loose Santa Catarina Pro in Brazil
today. Fanning was in the water about to surf a semifinal heat
against childhood friend Joel Parkinson (AUS) when Taj Burrow
(AUS) was eliminated by Tom Whitaker (AUS) and his lifelong
dream was realized.
“I woke up this morning and I just had a good feeling that it was
going to happen today,” Fanning said. “It was so amazing to be
out there with Joel. When I realized I’d won I went, ‘What do we
do Joel?’ and he was like, ‘I don’t know!’ I was just so stoked to
share my first ever heat as the World Champion with him. It was
amazing.”
Fanning surfed a signature heat to beat Parkinson 18.70 to 12.84
in Semifinal 1 before defending his Brazilian title by beating
rookie Kai Otton (AUS) in the final to win the Hang Loose Santa
Catarina Pro. The win marks his 9th Foster’s ASP World Tour

We all saw the massive purple and red blob headed straight for
Tahiti earlier in the week. Initial reports were calling it upwards of
a twenty-foot swell.
Yeah, right. Heard it all before.
Then I got an email from a friend who said the swell had been
downgraded a bit. He was dead wrong. This swell hit hard, really
hard, like biggest swell of the year hard. And right when I began
wondering when and where the photos would show up, my email
inbox flashed “TAHITI, THURSDAY NOV 1”

Pastrana Wins 2007 Rally America National Championship -ozzy go-
(Oct 27, 2007)- Subaru Rally Team USA driver Travis Pastrana
has won the 2007 Rally America National Championship with a
hard-fought victory in the series finale this weekend at the Lake
Superior Performance Rally (LSPR). Pastrana charged on the final
stages of the rally to beat Tanner Foust by a mere 3.5 seconds
after covering over 100 miles of extremely challenging, high-
speed gravel and tarmac roads in Michigan's Upper Peninsula.
Pastrana, the motocross star turned rally driver is now the Rally
America National Champion for the second consecutive year.
The LSPR is notorious for variable weather conditions and this
weekend proved no different after sun, rain and snow appeared
within a matter of hours of each other. At the start of the rally all
eyes were on the three-way battle amongst championship points
contenders Pastrana, his Subaru Rally Team USA teammate Ken
Block and Australian Andrew Pinker, each piloting 2007 Subaru
Impreza WRX STI rally cars. However, Block retired early after
damaging his radiator, and Pastrana pulled away convincingly
from Pinker on Leg one. Thus Pastrana was in the driver's seat
and needed to simply stay in front of Pinker to retain his Rally
America National Champion title after having earned it with
