Tommy Hahn has turned on the heat as of late. What looked to
be a top ten season for the Motosport Kawasaki Xtreme Team
Green rider has shifted gears and now has Hahn looking at a
possible top three...or better.
In only their first year as a professional team, Xtreme is already
showing signs of duplicating their success in the amateur ranks
at the next level. A success not so well known by many other
first year teams.
While there is still the question of the east, Motosport Kawasaki
Xtreme Team Green seems to be heading in the right direction.
As for Hahn, he now sits only four points behind third place rider
Bret Metcalfe and only 22 points back from Jason Lawrence in
first. With Houston and Seattle still to go, it's sure to be an epic

“Sometimes the wheel turns slowly, but it turns.” So said author
Lorne Michaels. It’s a pretty good way to describe what happened
to Team Torco Racing Fuels Honda rider Kevin Windham on
Saturday night while circulating the super-technical racetrack the
fine people at Live Nation had placed upon the base paths of
Angel Stadium. After closing in on the blue rear fender of
championship-leader Chad Reed, Windham went to work on
Reed, shadowing him as he tried to take the lead from the
otherwise dominant frontrunner in Monster Energy Supercross.
Calling into action his ever-smooth style on a motocross bike,
Windham used the quirky obstacles and rhythm sections on the
track to his advantage to pull even on Reed on more than one
occasion.
However, as the 20-lap race wound down to the halfway mark,
Windham visibly slowed, and both Honda’s Davi Millsaps and
Team Kawasaki’s Tim Ferry ultimately whizzed by the number 14
bike. To the 40,000 present in Anaheim (as well as the million or
so who watched the race on CBS on Sunday afternoon) it looked
like Windham may have become fatigued or lost his way, but that

gets an opportunity to grab a rider of Travis Preston’s caliber
after the season has already started, as normally there are
contract issues and things like that to contend with. However,
Preston proved to be a perfect candidate for the Monster
Energy Kawasaki squad since it was still early in the season
and Preston was literally without any major contracts. After
nearly a year off of the bike, Preston came off the couch to
grab James Stewart’s Kawasaki KX450F and put it in the main

Austin Stroupe is surprising a lot of people right now. There
hasn’t been a lot of hype surrounding him coming into his

The Latest Aussie Import
Australia has certainly given us our fair share of supercross
stars: Brett Metcalfe, Michael Byrne and of course, Chad Reed.
Meet Dan Reardon - the newest Aussie import who's already
turning heads in the AMA Supercross Lites series. The 22 year-
old from Brisbane, Queensland (who goes by Dan, not Daniel,
by the way) has several Australian National motocross and
supercross titles to his name. But what really set his career in
motion was giving Reed a stiff challenge in the Australian
outdoor series last year. That garnered the attention of the
American Factory Connection Honda team, who brought
Reardon over to compete along side Jake Weimer and Kevin
Windham on the Torco Racing Fuels/Honda team. Although he
hasn't cracked the podium just yet, Reardon has led races and
shown remarkable consistency in his rookie AMA season. go to

“Dan Reardon’s toolbox is full. Besides [Ryan] Dungey, he’s the
most consistent rider out there. He learns from his mistakes. He’ll

see the entire track and wins are not that far off for him. He’s
amazing for a rookie.” That’s Skip Norfolk talking heavy praise
from a mechanic who won a multitude of supercross
championships with Jeremy McGrath. Currently second in points in
the 2008 AMA Western Regional Supercross Lites Series, Reardon

Tommy Hahn Xtreme Interview -ozzy go-
At the San Francisco Supercross Motosport Xtreme Kawasaki
went with one lone rider, Tommy Hahn. Andrew Mcfarlane is out
for six weeks due to a dislocation in his hand that he sustained
while training earlier in the week. We are looking at our options
to place a second rider through Houston.
While it didn't rain Saturday morning the track was still plenty
wet, and Tommy rode conservatively in the single timed practice
session.
He got a good start in his heat, and after lap three his lap times
dropped considerably, with his sixth and last lap being one
second quicker than his best of the previous five. He crossed the
line 3rd, his best heat finish of the year.
In the main Tommy got a great jump, winning the Progressive
Holeshot award, however, he hit a soft spot in the face of the first
jump and nearly went over the bars. He saved it, but ended up
dropping back to fourth by the second turn. When Austin Stroupe
slid off the track Tommy moved up to third. Then Bret Metcalf
went down in the whoops and Tommy ran second from lap

Coast Lites series this year, or maybe they were dodging this guy.
Either way, we are pretty sure RV2 is going to win his share of
races on the East Coast this season. With his former teammate and
main competition Ben Townley out for the series, it is Ryan’s title to
win, even if it was an injury that put him on the right side of the
U.S. We caught up with the Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki
rider while he was busy getting ready for the Atlanta Supercross,
which will mark the start of his 2008 Monster Energy Supercross

rider that was tied for the points lead in Monster Energy AMA
Supercross before Anaheim 2. It was after practice that day
that Stewart, the defending series champion, made a shocking
announcement: He suffered a knee injury on December 20
that was getting worse, so he was going to undergo surgery.

Chris “Beeker” Onstott when I asked how James was doing.

Michigan’s Jake Marsack just had a breakthrough ride. The

Brock Tickle AMA Interview -ozzy go-
North Carolina’s Brock Tickle was one of the highlights of
the 2007 AMA Toyota Motocross Championships Presented
by FMF series. The AMA Pro rookie piloted his Star Racing
Yamaha into tenth place in the final Lites standings. Maybe
overshadowed by the Ryan Villopoto/Ben Townley
Championship battle, Tickle turned heads; especially after
setting a practice best lap time at High Point Raceway.
Throughout the series I always wanted to talk to the 18
year old, but just never caught up with him. After seeing
him at an AMA Toyota Arenacross a few days after the
New Year, I decided it was time to track him down via his
cell phone. With past champions like Villopoto and Townley
slated to ride the upcoming Supercross Lites East series,

“I feel like the big dog of the street,” laughed Josh Hill
when asked about is runner-up finish to Chad Reed last
Saturday night in Angel Stadium. “I mean Jason Lawrence
lives just down the street and he hasn’t won a race yet.”
As soon as the 18 year-old Hill was done speaking, in the
background, one could hear a bunch of pots and pans
clank together and the unmistakable voice of Jason
Lawrence.
“Is that the Racer X guys?” he asked loudly. “What do you
mean not win a race? Tell them to look up Saturday night’s
lap times!”
So we did. Lawrence had a good point. While Hill placed
second on a 450F with a fast lap of 49.501, Lawrence
pulled the fastest lap of the night on a 250F with a time of
49.663 (although he stalled his Yamaha and finished 21st).
Nonetheless, the banter between the two Lake Elsinore,
California was amusing and made for a pretty interesting
interview. Now a full-time 450F rider and in only his third
supercross in the deathly competitive classification, young
Hill had placed an amazing second at Anaheim and not
only was the podium result impressive, it left the 40,000-
plus fans present that there were plenty more to come
from the kid from Yoncalla, Oregon. With San Francisco
Supercross only 48 hours away, we tracked him down to
get his take on riding the big blue Yamaha and his chances
at AT&T Park, the big ball yard at #24 Willie Mays Plaza.

Josh Hill isn’t following the traditional path to motocross
stardom. The Oregon rider was snagged out of the amateur
national scene, like many others, and thrown into the Lites
class to prove himself. Josh showed potential, landing on the
podium at times, but he always seemed out of place on the
smaller bike. So Josh took matters into his own hands by
buying a 450 and showing the Yamaha management that he
could ride the bigger bike. They gave him a chance and he
has already rewarded them with a second-place finish in the
opening rounds of the Monster Energy AMA Supercross
series. The future looks bright for this oversized youngster.

5 Minutes with Davi Millsaps
Saturday night in Angel Stadium in Anaheim, California certainly
started off well for Team Honda rider Davi Millsaps. In the opening
heat of round three of the 2008 Monster Energy AMA Supercross
Championship, Millsaps enjoyed a great jump out of the gate,
rode fast and aggressively, and despite the fact that he made a
few errors in the eight lap encounter, he powered through them to
win the heat race over a hard charging Grant Langston by 1.974
seconds.
In his post-race interview, Millsaps looked happy and confident
and well on his way to shaking off the bad luck that had plagued
him at both Anaheim I and Phoenix (where he placed seventh and
14th, respectively).
When the 20-lap main event started later that evening, Millsaps
was running well into the upper reaches of the top 10 when, once
again, Millsaps Honda had a run-in with a Tuff Block and he race
was thrown off the rails. By lap 17 he was off on the side of the
track, his race run and a lowly 19th place next to his name on the
AMA scoring sheets.
Yes, it was another poor result, but it doesn’t mean the teenager
has given up or stopped putting his heart into it. Millsaps has show
excellent speed and stamina early in the season and it’s only a
mater of time before things go his way.
The morning of the retroactive-themed Anaheim Supercross, we
spoke at length with Davi Millsaps about the first few rounds of the
2008 season and just how he sees the rest of it playing out in the

5 Minutes With...Chad Reed January 22, 2008
San Manuel/Fusion Yamaha’s Chad Reed has been
here before. After winning more races than anyone
in the 2003 AMA Supercross Championship, but
losing the title to Ricky Carmichael, Reed came into
2004 ready to do battle, only to have Carmichael sit
out the series with an injured knee. Reed still won
the championship going away, but some to this day
don’t think it was legitimate with Carmichael being
out. Reed has maintained that he believes he
would’ve won the title Carmichael or no Carmichael
that year, but we’ll never know. For this season,
Reed came in ready to do battle again, but this time
it’s with 2007 champ James Stewart. Now that
Stewart has likely dropped out of the championship
hunt, Reed is once again in the driver’s seat. read
