Tommy Hahn Xtreme Interview: Post San Diego -ozzy go-

Tommy Hahn has turned on the heat as of late. What looked to
be a top ten season for the Motosport Kawasaki Xtreme Team
Green rider has shifted gears and now has Hahn looking at a
possible top three...or better.

In only their first year as a professional team, Xtreme is already
showing signs of duplicating their success in the amateur ranks
at the next level. A success not so well known by many other
first year teams.

While there is still the question of the east, Motosport Kawasaki
Xtreme Team Green seems to be heading in the right direction.

As for Hahn, he now sits only four points behind third place rider
Bret Metcalfe and only 22 points back from Jason Lawrence in
first. With Houston and Seattle still to go, it's sure to be an epic
end to an already epic season. interview on

Team Green Race Report: San Diego Supercross Lites

Motosport Xtreme Kawasaki’s Tommy Hahn raced to a second-
place finish in the AMA Supercross Lites class at Qualcomm
Stadium in San Diego. Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki’s
Brett Metcalfe battled through the pain of a bad ankle to finish
fourth while teammate Austin Stroupe finished seventh.

Xtreme Podium
For the second time in California, Hahn rode his Kawasaki
KX™250F to the podium in the AMA Supercross Lites, getting a
second place finish in San Diego. In conditions totally different
from a muddy San Francisco, Hahn came off the starting line in
second and had a clean race on a technical track. “Everyone was
saying I could only do it in the mud,” said Hahn. “I guess I
showed them I can do it in the dry as well. I want to thank my
team. They did a great job. The track was tough and I need to
thank my trainer too. I couldn’t have done it without him.”

Riding Hurt
During the second practice, Metcalfe tweaked his ankle and spent
the time before the night program with his foot in a bucket of ice.
During his heat race, he went down in the first turn and was
unable to make the main event and had to go to the last chance
qualifier. In the LCQ, Metcalfe hit the holeshot and led all four
laps to get to the main event. In the main, Metcalfe overcame a
rough start to work his way up to fourth at the checkered flag,
which moves him to third in the series’ standings.

“My ankle is fine, but it is just a little sore,” said Metcalfe. “It is
going to be really sore in the morning. It was pretty numb for the
races and I just got a bad gate pick for the main. Going to the
LCQ probably helped me a little though because it kept my ankle
moving and loose and I wasn’t thinking about it too much. I
overcame the outside start and finished fourth which salvaged
some points.”

Hard Fought
It was an eventful race for Stroupe, as he battled throughout both
his heat race and the main event. During both races he found a
quick way through the sand and was able to make passes right
after the finish line. “I didn’t get the start I usually get and I’m
bummed,” said Stroupe. “Back in the pack you can’t do much, but
I passed as many people as I could and ended up with seventh.”

Tommy Hahn Xtreme Interview -ozzy go-

At the San Francisco Supercross Motosport Xtreme Kawasaki
went with one lone rider, Tommy Hahn. Andrew Mcfarlane is out
for six weeks due to a dislocation in his hand that he sustained
while training earlier in the week. We are looking at our options
to place a second rider through Houston.

While it didn't rain Saturday morning the track was still plenty
wet, and Tommy rode conservatively in the single timed practice
session.

He got a good start in his heat, and after lap three his lap times
dropped considerably, with his sixth and last lap being one
second quicker than his best of the previous five. He crossed the
line 3rd, his best heat finish of the year.

In the main Tommy got a great jump, winning the Progressive
Holeshot award, however, he hit a soft spot in the face of the first
jump and nearly went over the bars. He saved it, but ended up
dropping back to fourth by the second turn. When Austin Stroupe
slid off the track Tommy moved up to third. Then Bret Metcalf
went down in the whoops and Tommy ran second from lap
three to five. full story & TH32 Interview on xtremeteamgreen

Brett Metcalfe Earns Second Podium in San Francisco

Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki’s Brett Metcalfe earned his
second podium in three races finishing third at AT&T Park in San
Francisco. Early in the evening Metcalfe won his first heat race of
the season. He was joined on the podium by Motosport Xtreme
Kawasaki rider Tommy Hahn, who turned in his best ride of the
season finishing second after claiming the holeshot in the main
event. Metcalfe’s teammate Austin Stroupe had an eventful night
of racing as he made up nine spots in his heat race to finish
second. In the main event he took the early lead, but went off
track in the slippery conditions. Stroupe recovered and went on
to the finish fifth, marking his third top five in four events.

Motosport Xtreme Kawasaki’s Hahn had a good night starting with
his heat race where he finished third. In the main he sprinted out
to the holeshot and ran near the front, passing Metcalfe on the
last lap to finish second and earn his first podium of the year.

“"We were running well early in the season,"” said Hahn. "“I’’m
happy to be on the podium. It was tough out there but I just
stayed on it and kept my head in it all race. We had a good heat
race and I’m happy to get a good result."”

Metcalfe got out of the starting gate well and was running second
on the third lap when he went down in the sloppy conditions while
trying to pass for the lead. The Australian quickly recovered and
rode back into contention. As the shortened race came to a close,
Metcalfe was once again in the runner-up spot but he was passed
on the last lap pushing him to a third place finish, his second
podium in the last three races.

“I got a good start in the main,” said Metcalfe. “It was difficult
and I was making my way to the front. I was aggressive and
tried to take the lead in a turn and went down. I got up and rode
back to the front.”

For Stroupe the main event was definitely a show as the 17-year-
old rider battled the tricky conditions throughout the race. After
getting a clean start and taking the early lead, he went off the
track but kept his Kawasaki KX™250F upright and rejoined the
field. As the conditions worsened Stroupe continued to have a yo-
yo type race of moving up and falling back. At the end he was on
the upswing again, finishing fifth. “I almost got the holeshot and
was riding well,” said Stroupe. “But I went off the track on the
first lap. I got back on and was...” full story on kawasaki.com

Tommy Hahn Update

Yesterday in practice at Budds Creek, Team Honda's Tommy Hahn crashed and
was injured, which forced him to sit out both motos. His trainer, Sandy Eggers,
gave us this update today. "Tommy separated his ribs from his sternum and
bruised his lungs. He is currently back home in Texas recovering, and should be
back at Red Bud." Hahn fell from sixth to ninth in the AMA Motocross Lites points
standings. racerxill.com
