2007 AMA Rookies of the Year Announced -ozzy go-

AMA Racing is proud to announce the 2007 AMA Rookie of the Year winners –
Ryan Dungey, Mike Rush and Luca Scassa. These top rookies will be honored at
the 33rd Annual AMA Pro Racing Championship Awards Banquet at the Rio All
Suite Hotel & Casino on Sunday evening, Nov. 18.

Ryan Dungey - AMA Motocross/Supercross Rookie of the Year
Ryan Dungey turned in a solid season in his first full year in the professional
ranks. The 17 year-old Makita Suzuki rider from Belle Plaine, Minn., won three
rounds of the AMA Supercross Lites East Series en route to finishing fifth in the
final standings. He capped off the Supercross season with an impressive victory
in the Dave Coombs East/West AMA Supercross Lites Shootout at Las Vegas'
Sam Boyd Stadium on May 5.

"It was unbelievable," said Dungey after winning the Shootout. "I'd hoped to
get a good start on my Makita Suzuki RM-Z250 but it was unimaginable to lead
the whole 15 laps like that.”

Dungey was a promising amateur champion when Makita Suzuki unexpectedly
called him up to race for them in the final motocross rounds of 2006. In
addition to the potential he showed in Supercross this season, Dungey also
scored four podium finishes in the Lites class of the 2007 AMA Toyota Motocross
Championship presented by FMF. His best result of the year was a runner-up
finish at Unadilla in July.

Dungey finished the season ranked fifth in the final AMA Motocross Lites
Championship in spite of missing the final three rounds due to an injury.
“I’m really excited to be named AMA Rookie of the Year,” Dungey said. “I’m
really happy about such a big honor, because just one rider a year gets it for
working the hardest throughout the year and having the best results out of all
the rookies. But I couldn’t have gotten this without the support of my mom and
dad, all of Team Makita Suzuki, my team manager Roger DeCoster, my
sponsors, my manager Tony Gardea and..." full story on amaflatrack.com

MotoGP: Valencia Preview -ozzy go- motorcycle-usa.com

The 2007 season has been a surprising one and now, after 17
rounds, it will come to a close this weekend at the Valencia finale.
With offseason rumors and speculation swirling, as well as the
series' flirtation with a single-tire rule coming to an end, only one
question matters: Can Casey Stoner cap off his '07 dominance
with yet another win over Valentino Rossi?

With a two-race winning streak, Ducati's Stoner has proven that a
title in hand hasn't diminished his desire to steal the checkers. If
anything, the lack of pressure has only increased his ability to
motor towards the top of the rostrum. Don't expect the 2007
MotoGP champion to change that plan this Sunday.

"Valencia will be a special weekend, the last race of a season that
has been a dream come true. The championship may already be
done but I don't need any more motivation than each race
weekend. Every race is just as important as the others to me, so
we go out there every time to try and win."

For Valentino Rossi, a win at Valencia will provide a sweet end to
what has been a bitter season. The Doctor, once untouchable and
without equal in MotoGP, has been second-best to Stoner during
2007. Dissatisfaction with his Michelin tires and legal troubles with
Italian tax authorities have been the headlines most associated
with Rossi's name in '07 rather than the usual one - winning GPs.
The Italian superstar just hasn't been the same since the 2006
Valencia GP, when the Yamaha ace low-sided away his customary
crown and watched Nicky Hayden celebrate amidst smokey
fireworks unleashed, embarrassingly, in colors reflecting Rossi's
Yamaha livery.

"The last race in Malaysia was a disappointment but also very
encouraging because, on race day, everything worked very well,"
said the Doctor on his fifth-place result last round. "Hopefully we
can use this to start on a good note at Valencia because Sepang
showed how important it is to start from the front. Valencia has
usually been a good track for me, although I don't have such
great memories from last year!"

Of course, the Stoner/Rossi faceoff is not the only question to be
answered on Sunday, as there are still positions in the title hunt
up for grabs.

While Signor Rossi is all but assured second-place in the overall
championship, at 24-points back Senor Dani Pedrosa has a long-
shot chance of catching the Doctor at Valencia. Although the
Repsol Honda rider's name has been associated with Rossi's in
the brewing Michelin/Bridgestone tire swap for 2008, in recent
rounds Pedrosa has been the most competitive rider aboard the
French treads. With nothing to lose, the Spaniard figures to ride
his Michelin-shod Honda for all its worth in front of the Spanish
crowd.

But with the Valencia GP the finale of an 18-round 2007 season,
everyone figures to be going for broke on Sunday. Topping the
list will be riders finishing off their '07 contracts and changing
scenery for '08.

Marco Melandri has a good thing going aboard his Bridgestone-
shod Gresini Honda and will try and best Stoner at the '07 finale
before he becomes the reigning champ's teammate for the 2008
season. Also Ducati-bound and looking for glory at Valencia is
Toni Elias. The future Pramac d'Antin rider goes incredible Hulk
whenever he visits the Iberian peninsula, so don't be shocked if
the Spanish Elias finds either the podium or the gravel on Sunday.

Ryno still charges
This weekend saw the International Oceania Motocross

The southern hemispheres best racers were there including
Josh Coppins, Daryl Hurley and Craig Anderson. Australia
came out on top and took the coveted title.

One rider who made the trip to Melbourne was American
ace Ryan Hughes, MOTO managed to get roving reporter
Stuart Flockhart who happened to be in OZ for a holiday to

Suzuki Scores 2nd & 3rd in Oceania MX Championship -ozzy go-

Team Shift Motul Suzuki rider, Daryl Hurley clinched second place in the
2007 International Oceania Motocross Championship at Barrabool (VIC),
today, ahead of American racing hero and guest team mate, Ryan Hughes
in third place.

Piloting the Team Shift Motul Suzuki prepared RM-Z450, US star rider
Hughes made a strong start narrowly missing the holeshot in the opening
20-minute Pro Open moto and running in the top three with the race lead
in sight.

As the current world number two, Josh Coppins, assumed the lead ahead
of Craig Anderson, Hughes remained in touch in third until a small moment
on the fourth lap saw him give Anderson some breathing space and the
leading trio spread out but maintained position until the chequered flag.

Team Shift Motul Suzuki regular, Daryl Hurley made a slower start in the
first Pro Open race, completing the opening lap in ninth place, but the
former Australian Motocross Champion delivered a sizzling performance as
he charged through the field and closed in on the leaders.

On lap seven, Hurley made a move to grab sixth spot and on the following
lap passed Michael Addison and Daniel McCoy to claim fourth place and
began reeling in fellow Suzuki rider, Hughes.

While Hurley continued to close the gap to Hughes, the New Zealander ran
out of laps before the chequered flag and had to settle for fourth place.

The second Pro Open race got underway with an action packed opening
lap that had Hurley duelling with Hughes for third place. Hughes won out
and left Hurley to battle with slow starting Coppins. On the second lap
Hughes and Coppins had a coming together which dropped both riders
down the order, elevating... full story on suzukimotorcycles.com.au

Josh Coppins cleans up International MX in Barrabool

The NZ vs Australia race format which sees the best Pro,
Junior and Women riders from each country battle it out
at the famous Barrabool circuit west of Melbourne, has
seen Kiwi star Josh Coppins blitz all races at the annual
event. The NZ team captain won both Pro races, the one
on-one Super Pole against former GP rival and guest
American racer Ryan Hughs, and to add the icing on the
cake, Coppins cleaned up the Pro feature race which had
the 20 top scoring Pro Lites riders trying to making their
mark against the 20 top Pro Open riders.

“I really enjoyed myself this weekend” smiled Coppins. “I
set the fastest time in practice and qualifying on Saturday
and stayed out of trouble on Sunday and managed to win
all races. The track was fast and technical which I liked
and we had good weather with some wind in the morning
making it a bit dusty.”

Despite Coppins’s full house of wins, Team NZ were still
not able to pry the trophy from a hungry Aussie team.
“NZ did well in the Pro class and in the woman’s class
with a great ride from Katherine Prumm but we really
struggled in the Junior classes which I guess is where we
lost out to Australia. I love doing this event and am going
to stay on a little longer in Oz for a bit of a holiday before
heading back home to Motueka.” added the factory
Yamaha racer. joshcoppins.com

Australia claim Oceania Motocross Championship honours -ozzy go- fullnoise.com.au

Australia has claimed the Oceania Championship for the third
year in a row on the back of a strong performance by it's Lites
and Junior riders at the iconic Barabool motocross circuit just
outside of Geelong, Victoria, over the weekend.

World Championship top runner Josh Coppins once again lead the
Kiwi charge and took out the Pro Open class in fairly easy fashion
ahead of his compatriot Daryl Hurley. American motocross legend
Ryan Hughes rounded out the Pro Open podium with third overall.
“I really enjoyed myself this weekend” smiled Coppins. “I set the
fastest time in practice and qualifying on Saturday and stayed out
of trouble on Sunday and managed to win all races. The track was
fast and technical which I liked and we had good weather with
some wind in the morning making it a bit dusty.”

Hurley, who has had a shocking run with injuries found some of
the form that has seen him at the top of the motocross tree in the
past. "Even though I didn't get great starts, my speed was good
overall today and I managed to get through and make passes in
every race. "To get second to Josh feels pretty good, especially in
the second race. He nearly won the World Championship so I'm
pretty happy to have been able torun with him and finish second
to him, today."

Hughes was happy with his third and really enjoyed the event and
level of competition, but despite his admission that he ran out of a
bit of fitness he still lived up to his hard racing reputation and
delivered a great ride for the fans and proved to be a tough
competitor. "I've never raced in Australia before, but I've had so
many great people help bring me out here to race this weekend,
the track is great and the level of competition is so strong that I
definitely want to come back and do this event again next year,"
the American MX icon said. full story on fullnoise.com.au

Pastrana Wins 2007 Rally America National Championship -ozzy go-

(Oct 27, 2007)- Subaru Rally Team USA driver Travis Pastrana
has won the 2007 Rally America National Championship with a
hard-fought victory in the series finale this weekend at the Lake
Superior Performance Rally (LSPR). Pastrana charged on the final
stages of the rally to beat Tanner Foust by a mere 3.5 seconds
after covering over 100 miles of extremely challenging, high-
speed gravel and tarmac roads in Michigan's Upper Peninsula.
Pastrana, the motocross star turned rally driver is now the Rally
America National Champion for the second consecutive year.

The LSPR is notorious for variable weather conditions and this
weekend proved no different after sun, rain and snow appeared
within a matter of hours of each other. At the start of the rally all
eyes were on the three-way battle amongst championship points
contenders Pastrana, his Subaru Rally Team USA teammate Ken
Block and Australian Andrew Pinker, each piloting 2007 Subaru
Impreza WRX STI rally cars. However, Block retired early after
damaging his radiator, and Pastrana pulled away convincingly
from Pinker on Leg one. Thus Pastrana was in the driver's seat
and needed to simply stay in front of Pinker to retain his Rally
America National Champion title after having earned it with
Subaru last year as the youngest... full story on racerxill.com

Adams was named the AST Dew Tour 2007 Athlete of the Year. Adams, who won his

Jeremy McGrath Racerx Interview -ozzy go-

Between the Motos: Jeremy McGrath October 24, 2007
Moving a piano and instructing some young neighbor kids on how
to drive a Rhino (“This thing don’t turn too good and be sure to
stop at the signs or they’ll run you over”) wasn’t exactly what I
expected Jeremy McGrath to be doing when I tracked him down
on a Saturday afternoon in late October. But there he was,
relaxed and happy to be home, his abbreviated NASCAR Late
Model stock car racing career now over and his traveling—the
approaching Paris-Bercy Supercross not withstanding—over and
done for the year. Truth be told, there isn’t much left to say about
Jeremy McGrath that hasn’t been said before. Yes, seven AMA
Supercross Championships and seventy-two career supercross
wins were the exclamation marks on his remarkable career, but
more than anything, Jeremy McGrath is remembered for being,
well, Jeremy McGrath.

Now an axiom, Ricky Carmichael is known as The GOAT (Greatest
of All Time), and the number of wins and championships next to
his name is likely to never to be touched. Jeremy McGrath,
however, is “Showtime,” because his actions on the racetrack
were actually superseded by his charming, larger-than-life
personality. Throughout the course of history, every major sport
has been graced with an athlete who almost single handedly took
their sport, put it on their back, and through talent, grace, and
goodwill, carried it to higher ground. Baseball had Babe Ruth in
the roaring 1920s, NASCAR had Richard Petty in the 1970s,
hockey had Wayne Gretzky in the 1980s, basketball had Michael
Jordan in the 1990s, and supercross had Jeremy McGrath, also in
the mid-to-late 1990s.

Since he’s now officially retired from the sport and back in
California after taking a shot at one of NASCAR’s junior divisions,
it seemed obvious to us that the time was right to find Jeremy
McGrath and have him weigh-in on the sport and his place in it.
The interview you are about to read took place over the course of
a few hours, and with each question posed, McGrath seemed to
have his answers ready and waiting. In other words, some time
had passed since he’d lined up behind a starting gate, and he had
more than a few things he was ready to address and elaborate
on. To that end, we bring you Jeremy McGrath. interview on

Stoner can join MotoGP greats in Spain

In just his second year in the elite MotoGP class, Australia's world
champion Casey Stoner is poised to join two of the sport's
legends.

If Stoner wins his 11th race of the year in Valencia, Spain, next
week, he will join Italian greats Giacomo Agostini and Valentino
Rossi on the list of season victories.

Only Australian five-times world champion Mick Doohan has more
- he won 12 races in 1997.

But Doohan by that stage had been in MotoGP for nine seasons.

Rossi won 11 races in 2002 - his third year in the elite class - and
in 2005.

Agostini, the all-time great with eight world championships,
captured 11 wins in 1972, his eighth year in the top category.

Stoner, who turned 22 last week, took his first race win this year
in Qatar before winning back-to-back grands prix in Turkey and
China and again in Catalunya, Spain, and the UK.

He snared a hat-trick when he won three in a row in the US, the
Czech Republic and San Marino.

Last week, Stoner snared his home race at Phillip Island then
overcame heat exhaustion to take out the Malaysian GP at
Sepang.

Stoner said he remained positive about finishing the season in
Valencia with another triumph.

"I've had some really good results there," he said.

"I really enjoy the circuit, it's a little bit different how it can be
made in such a small area but it seems to be quite flowing and
the grip's pretty good.

"I'm really enjoying getting there.

"It was my first test there on the Ducati and we were quite
confident. We felt quite comfortable and I hope when we go back
there now we can find a setting quite quickly and be competitive
again," Stoner said. theage.com.au - pics from ducati.com

All set for thrilling Oceania battle -ozzy go- oceaniamx.com

Australia has named a crack team to take on the star-studded New Zealanders in
the International Oceania MX Championship at McAdam Park, Barrabool (Vic) on October
27-28.

The showpiece trans-Tasman event, back at McAdam Park after a two-year absence,
promises to be yet another battle royale, with multiple national motocross and
supercross champion Craig Anderson to captain the Australians against the might of
New Zealand, which has world No. 3 Josh Coppins and the prodigiously talented
Katherine Prumm on its roster.

In addition to the marquee names from Australia and New Zealand, American
veteran Ryan “Ryno” Hughes will add even more lustre to the event.

Although he’ll only be fighting for individual, rather than team honours, the 34-year-
old Californian will undoubtedly be one of the crowd favourites.

Hughes was a member of American’s 2000 Motocross of Nations (MXON)-winning
team, alongside the incomparable Ricky Carmichael and Travis Pastrana.

"The Aussies and Kiwis might like to beat Americans, well we Americans like to beat
everybody,” said Hughes. “I'm coming down there to win.”

Both Oceania teams will be made up of 14 riders, comprising four apiece in the Pro
Open and Pro Lites categories, and three each in Juniors and Women.

Two races will be held per class, with the 28 ‘championship’ riders to be joined by
international rider Hughes who is ready to “mix it up” amongst the throng of
competitors from Australia and New Zealand.

This year’s Oceania format will also include the Pro Shootout and Pro Feature races.
The latter will see the top 20 Pro Lites and top 20 Pro Open riders compete in an all

Austin Stroupe Injured

Following one of the most dominate team efforts in
motocross history, bad luck seems to have finally befallen
the Monster Energy/Pro Circuit Kawasaki team. Two team
riders have suffered broken collarbones in the past two
weeks. Barely a week removed from the announcement
that two-time defending AMA Toyota Motocross Lites
champion Ryan Villopoto's shoulder injury comes news of
their hot rookie prospect, Austin Stroupe, suffering a
clavicle injury at Lake Elsinore this past Saturday night.

Racer X contacted Austin's father, Todd, who confirmed
the injury. "Yeah, he lost the front wheel in a corner
before a small jump and just lost it. Nothing too major,
just kind of slammed him down real quick. He is off to the
doctor today and will have surgery and get a plate put on
it, then be out probably be out four weeks or so."

Besides Villopoto and Stroupe, Ben Townley wrenched his
shoulder at the Motocross of Nations last month and sat
out the race; he will be riding a factory Honda next time
we see him. But one month before that, Christophe
Pourcel, who was set to join the team this fall, separated
his hip in a crash over in Europe, complicating where the
team will assign riders--West or East--for the 2008 AMA
Supercross tour.

Here's to wishing a full and speedy recovery for Austin
and a little good for the rest of the boys at Monster

Adams Takes FMX Finals in Orlando; Is 2007 Athlete of the Year

Nate Adams made it four out five in this season's AST Dew Tour
by taking the PlayStation Pro in Orlando Saturday. Adams
already won the Dew Cup last month in Portland but the win
means he is this year's AST Dew Tour Athlete of the Year, an
honor bestowed to the athlete who scores the most point over
the length of the tour. Adams is the only athlete so far this
season to win four of five stops, although Shaun White can
match that Sunday in the Skate Vert finals. However, since
White finished third in his only non-win tour stop, Adam's
second-place finish means he is the Athlete of the Year. For the
honor Adams takes home an additional $25,000 to go along
with the $75,000 he wins for the Dew Cup and the $15,000 he
earned for winning the PlayStation Pro.

Jeremy "Twitch" Stenberg had a strong showing, ending up in
second for the contest, followed by Todd Potter. For the
Season, Adam Jones was second in the points race, followed by
Mike Mason. lat34.com

Second place for Coppins at Weston Beach race

Josh Coppins has lined up against a field of over 1150 off road
riders for his Weston Beach Race debut this past weekend. In his
second to last event before returning home to NZ, the Kiwi battled
it out with fellow Motocross rival, Steve Ramon, chasing the
Belgian over the rutted and sandy Weston Beach dunes in what is
considered the largest off road event in the UK.

“I didn’t know what to expect at this race.” admitted Coppins. “I
have heard a lot about the Weston Beach race and now that I
have one under my belt I’m going to be back for more. I rode a
complete standard YZ450F 2008 model and was amazed how well
the bike pulled and held up in the deep sand. We ran stock
suspension and a standard fuel tank so I just had to stop more
often to re-fuel which is obviously where I lost some time.”

Perfect weather conditions made the circuit somewhat easier on
the competitors nonetheless the race was cut 30 mins short for
safety reasons which saw Coppins follow home Steve Ramon in
second place.

“I took it easy on the first lap and was around 20th position after
the start. Mike Brown and Steve Ramon were long gone but then
‘Brownie’ cooked his clutch and after the first hour I was 2
minutes off of Steve. I got a rhythm going and closed down the
gap to 50 seconds by the time the organisers red flagged the race
so I was pumped with my riding and fitness.”

Coppins returns to NZ on Tuesday only to catch a connecting
flight to Australia where he will take part in the International
Oceania Motocross Championships in Barrabool on the 27-28
October. (www.oceaniamx.com) joshcoppins.com
