After winning his second MX2 world championship title last
weekend at Moneyglass Demense in Northern Ireland, Antonio
Cairoli is gearing up to make his first appearance in MX1 at
round 14 of the world championship held at the Donington circuit
coming weekend.
With the MX2 title now in the bag Cairoli will ride a production
YZ450F entered by his own Yamaha De Carli team. Besides
Cairoli’s personal interest to race in MX1 he hopes his
participation can help Yamaha to secure the MX1 world title.
Cairoli started his MX2 world championship career with Yamaha
de Carli and is grateful to be able to try and return a favor to
Yamaha; ‘Now that I have secured the MX2 title I’m happy to
support Yamaha to win the MX1 title. I’m not quiet sure what to
expect from the race, but it is a good test for me as my future
will ultimately be in MX1. I am planning to race a YZ450F
already next year in the Italian championship, so why not
give it a try now already.’ LondonBikers.com
