First, let’s get a few quick facts out of the way: RC has won
the AMA Athlete of the Year five times - a record for the award;
he’s won three AMA Motocross Lites Championships; one AMA
Supercross Lites Championship; five AMA Supercross
Championships; and seven AMA Motocross Championships –
two of which were perfect seasons! He’s also been a member
of three winning Motocross of Nations Teams (two as rider, one
as team captain). These professional accolades first started
when he won the AMA Rookie of the Year Award in 1996, on
the heels of a brilliant amateur career.

In the record books he’ll always be remembered for his
accomplishments on the track, but what I will remember is
what he did off the track. I can't think of any rider in history
of motocross that has exuded the same determination, heart,
graciousness, patriotism, and generosity that RC has exhibited.
To say the motocross community will miss Ricky Carmichael
is the understatement of the year. I had a chance to catch up
with “The Goat” (Greatest of all Time), now 27 and married with
two young childre. RC provided his thoughts on the twilight
