Yamaha’s Broc Parkes won the battle at the front with Hannspree
Ten Kate Honda’s Kenan Sofoglu to take victory in the World
Supersport race at the Lausitzring. The pair had fought all the way
through the race with Sofuoglu appearing to have a problem on
the last race, which allowed Parkes to secure the win. The British
pairing of Craig Jones (Honda) and Tommy Hill (Yamaha) also did
their credentials no harm with a fourth and fifth to show team
bosses what they are capable of as they look for rides for 2008.
Kenan Sofuoglu and Broc Parkes battled to the first corner but it
was Sofuoglu who took the lead. Craig Jones got himself in to
11th with Tommy Hill 12th from the outset, Hill soon got past his
friend but Jones had other ideas. It was three abreast coming
over the start finish line for the end of lap one with Sofuoglu, Broc
Parkes and Sebastien Charpentier all vying for the lead. On lap
three Craig Jones was 10th with Tommy Hill in 13th. Broc Parkes
took the lead on lap four with Sebastien Charpentier and 2007
champion Kenan Sofuoglu hot on his heels. Lap seven saw Barry
Veneman, Mauro Sanchini and Giles Boccolini all crash out
together. Veneman did manage to get going again though. Lap
nine saw Kenan Sofuoglu take the lead from Broc Parkes. But
Parkes was not giving up and did not allow Sofuoglu to get away,
