Windham’s Win
In moto two, Sobe Samsung No Fear Honda’s Kevin Windham dominated; passing
Alessi after one lap and checking out making Kevin very happy as he took a victory
lap. “I felt like I owed it to the fans that were hanging over the fence all day with K-
Dub signs. It felt good and the crowd definitely made it worth my while” added Kevin.
Say it isn’t so
At the press conference, Kevin indicated that this could be the last moto of his career.
“It was a real legitimate possibility that this was my last moto – my last lap. When I
was lined up for the final moto I thought that okay, this could be it for old K-Dub. But I
gave it my all and it felt awesome” said Kevin about the final moto of 2007.
Windham's Weight
“We have some things that we have to work out. I hope that things can stay the same
– that’s about all I can say about it at this time. They’re optimistic about getting things
done, and we are trying to put something together that works for them, me and my
family, and my fans – all those are things that are factors. I am not bad mouthing the
nationals, or bad mouthing supercross; I don’t know if I want to road race or race
supermoto – I’ don’t know what I want to do. I just really want to put some thought
into it; I weighing out everything with making my decision” said Kevin.
Kevin’s Reflections
“I’ve been riding since I was three, and won my first championship at six, and then
picked up my first ride. So to think of my life without racing it seems incomplete – it
seems insignificant. To lose this chapter in my life is something that I don’t think that I
can deal with at this time. There is a certain level of preparation that goes into
retirement so you don’t get depressed. I’ll lay it (his future plans) out there as soon as
I can.” added Windham.
Eggshells
“I’m walking on eggshells right now; I’ve got a wife who is due on September 27th
with our third child, so I’m not even approaching that subject. I’m not even bringing it
up; its time for me to be thinking about being a dad” said Windham when questioned
about racing the US Open of Supercross. pic from racerxill.com
