Steel City Race Report -ozzy go- yamaha-motor.com

Yamaha Factory Racing’s Grant Langston had his best day ever
in the premier AMA Motocross class with a second and a win at
Steel City Raceway in Export, Penn. on Sunday, Aug. 26. His 2-1
results gave him the overall victory for the first time in his 450-
class career, but more importantly they launched him into the
championship points lead on his 2008 YZ450F with just two races
remaining. Making the day better still, in the Lites class Yamaha
Factory Racing’s Broc Hepler won his first moto of the year
aboard a YZ250F. Additionally, Sarah Whitmore claimed the
overall victory in the final round of the WMA series on her
YZ250F also held at Steel City with a 1st in Moto#1 and a
second Moto #2.
Motocross...
Langston started inside the top four in the first 450-class moto
and then engaged in a terrific battle with Kevin Windham,
ultimately getting the upper hand to claim second behind Mike
Alessi. He got another strong start in the second race, stalking
leader Windham until passing for the lead – and his second
win of the year – with two laps remaining. “Grant has been
getting good starts and now has momentum on his side,” said
Yamaha Team Manager Jim Perry afterwards. “Time will tell
how this championship works out.”
Motocross Lites...
Hepler started in the top three and quickly took control of the
first Lites race as rivals Ryan Villopoto and Ben Townley were
involved in a costly pileup. Although he lost the lead to Tommy
Hahn on lap three, he quickly then got back around Hahn and
built up a comfortable margin at the checkered flag. The
second moto wasn’t so fortunate for Hepler. Although he
started strongly and ran as high as second, he crashed,
recovered and continued in sixth position before another fall
ended his day. YamahaMotor.com
