Steel City Happenings: Motocross Class
In what was one of the best battles of the series, Team Yamaha’s
Grant Langston narrowly defeated rivals Mike Alessi and Kevin
Windham to take the overall win at Steel City with 2 – 1 moto
scores.
No Pressure Grant
“As I have said before, I just don’t struggle with pressure.
Everyone handles it differently, and I think that I rise to the
occasion in things like this” commented Team Yamaha’s Grant
Langston after moving into the points lead.
Every Point Matters
Talking about his second moto battles with Windham and Alessi,
Grant would say “In the second moto I went off the track, and
tried to stay calm. I kept telling myself that every point matters,
every point matters. We all make mistakes at some point, and I
think that anyone of the three of us could have won this race.”
Like a Shark
“I don’t know what it is; for some reasons I always find myself in
these last minute down-to-the-wire battles – but I think that’s
good and what keeps us strong. In the beginning of the season I
obviously didn’t think that I would be in this position, but once I
smelled the blood, I thought man I have to go for it” commentednew points leader Grant Langston.
More Monsters
Langston proudly displayed his helmet with new sponsor logos at
the press conference; he’s now working with Monster Energy who
of course was a sponsor of his in his Pro Circuit Kawasaki days.
Although he will remain with Yamaha for 2008, Grant said he
hopes to announce several new personal sponsors soon.
Blondie
Langston had also recently dyed his hair blonde. According to
Grant “my wife thinks that David Beckham is cute so I dyed my
hair to match his; but I think that I look betterJ” quipped
Langston.
Dramatics
Keeping with the Steel City tradition of last lap last corner
dramatics, Alessi a-l-m-o-s-t passed Kevin Windham in the
second moto!
10
It’s now only ten points that separate leader Grant Langston to
Mike Alessi in fourth. The last race at Glen Helen will be epic!
