KTM USA Millville Race Report -ozzy go- AMA Toyota Motocross Championship Round 9

This past weekend was the Spring Creek race, held in Millville,
MN. The AMA Motocross season is beginning to wind down now;
with three races left.

The competition is still as good as it could be though, bringing
thousands of fans to cheer on their heroes. The weekend began
with rain and clouds and by 1pm on Sunday afternoon, the sun
was really shining.

Everyone at the Red Bull KTM put their heads together and had a
fantastic weekend. Lites class rider, Martin Davalos earned the
11th gate pick for both motos. Due to Joaquim Rodrigues’s overall
practice times, he would have 20th gate pick. The 450 class
riders, Mike and Jeff Alessi, went to the gate with the eighth and
21st gate picks.

Moto one of the Lites class started out really great. Both Joaquim
and Martin found themselves in the top 10 rounding the first
corner. While Davalos settled into seventh for nearly the entire
moto, Joaquim found himself struggling just a bit. He would
eventually finish 15th in the first moto.

The familiar 800 bike of Mike Alessi was in the top 10 also when
the gate dropped for the first Motocross moto. Jeff Alessi was in
about 12th place. Mike quickly moved up to fourth and held onto
that for the entire moto. Jeff bounced around and finished in 13th.

In the second Lites moto, Martin came out of the gate looking as
if he was on a mission. He was pushed outside just a touch and
came out fourth. The only person who passed Davalos the whole
moto was that number 1 bike of Ryan Villopoto. Davalos held on
for fifth- and a fabulous fourth overall! At the start, Rodrigues was
somewhere in the top 20. He then went on to finish 16th- and
16th overall.

The gate dropped for the second Motocross moto and “Mighty
Mike” was up front! He didn’t grab the holeshot, but he did get up
there and lead for the first few laps of the race. Unfortunately,
Ricky Carmichael was in town and on the ball. He passed Mike
and never looked back. Grant Langston also got by Mike in the
later part of the moto. Mike went on to finish third in the moto and
on the day. He was really excited. At the start, the 801 machine
of Jeff Alessi was somewhere in the top 15. He went onto battle
with some 450 class veterans like Kyle Lewis and Michael Byrne.
Jeff finished 16th in the moto and earned a 15th overall for the
day. click on ozzy go to the full story on KTM USA.com
