Kawasaki AMA Motocross Lites riders take top four spots at Steel City -ozzy go-

DELMONT, Pa. Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki rider Ryan
Villopoto captured the points lead with a win in the AMA Motocross
Lites class at the tenth round of the AMA Toyota Motocross
Championship. Teammates Ben Townley, Brett Metcalfe and
rookie Austin Stroupe took the second, third and fourth positions,
respectively, to sweep the podium for the second consecutive
time.

In one of the most anticipated AMA Motocross Lites races of the
season, it was the Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki squad
who stole the show. And to add to the title tension, the Steel City
race marked Stroupe’s professional debut.

Off the start of the first moto, Stroupe, Villopoto and Townley
came together in the first turn, causing an enormous pile up.
Stroupe was able to get through on two wheels while Villopoto
and Townley were left scrambling to remount their Kawasaki
KX™250F bikes. With Stroupe running up front, the attention
turned to Villopoto and Townley, who were making their charge
through the field. Villopoto’s run ended just a few bike lengths
behind Stroupe, with Stroupe finishing second in his debut race.
Townley and Metcalfe finished in the sixth and eight positions,
respectively.

“My first moto went really well, especially for my first time out,”
said Stroupe. “I got the holeshot and was out front for the whole
first lap before I slid out. Fortunately, I was able to get back up
and take second which was great. This whole thing is just so new
that it’s all a huge learning experience for me.”
