It was retro night at Anaheim 2, and there were some cool old-
school graphics and riding gear out on the track. But the action was
pure, state-of-the-art 2008. Anaheim 1 and Anaheim 2 couldn’t have
been more different in terms of track conditions: while the first
Supercross of the season was a mudfest, at Anaheim 2 the
conditions were just about perfect, and the Honda Red Bull Racing
and Honda Torco Racing Fuels teams took full advantage of the
favorable conditions.
When it came to results, there was a nice “retro” touch as well:
Veteran Red Rider Kevin Windham, riding on the Honda Torco Racing
Fuels CRF450R, was the high-scoring Honda for the night. K-Dub is
really showing his experience and skill this season—he finished on
the podium for the second-straight race, and rode off with a huge
boost in his quest for the 2008 Supercross championship, his third
place in the main elevating him to second place in the standings.
It was clear from the drop of the gate in the first heat that this was
going to be a great night for Honda, with CRF450Rs winning both
qualifying heats.
Honda Red Bull Racing’s Dave Millsaps captured the first heat in
impressive style, while, Windham, still sporting his “pirate”
moustache, pillaged the pack in the second heat, easily taking the
win on his Honda Torco Fuels CRF450R, with Honda Red Bull Racing’s
Ivan Tedesco in fourth and teammate Andrew Short in fifth.
Honda Red Bull Racing’s Davi Millsaps showed his heat-race win was
no fluke when the gate dropped for the main event, slotting in third
behind Chad Reed and Mike Alessi. Kevin Windham followed not far
behind in sixth, with Honda Red Bull Racing rider Ivan Tedesco in
eleventh. full story on hondaredriders.com
