The whirlwind series returns this weekend to Angel Stadium after
a fleeting visit to Phoenix where Reed took a hard-fought second
place and claimed his 74th podium in the category ranking him
third in the list for the most podiums ever recorded by a rider.
The seesaw battle between Reed and rival championship
contender James Stewart enters another exciting chapter this
weekend as the duo head into round three locked together on
points – 47 a piece.
Reed will use the psychological edge gained by victory at the
previous Angel Stadium event in his bid to notch up another round
win. “I’m pumped for this race, obviously I’m still riding the highs
of my win which came here under two weeks ago, and I’ll use this
confidence to try and take another,” Reed said.
Reed said balancing confidence with a committed work ethic was
the key to gaining an advantage over the competition something
which he has mastered after becoming the first Yamaha rider to
win one AMA Supercross class race in six consecutive seasons.
“It’s important to come out firing first up, this can be vital in
getting the ball rolling and could be the edge that wins or loses a
race,” said Reed.
“The surface should be quite different due to the weather having
improved, so it’s shaping up to be anyone’s race once again.”
