AURORA, Ill. (December 28, 2007) – Monster Energy Supercross fans will
get an exclusive viewing of a commemorative bronze sculpture of the
seven-time AMA Supercross champion Jeremy McGrath when the Monster
Energy® AMA Supercross, an FIM World Championship, makes its three
annual visits to Angel Stadium in Anaheim on Jan. 5, 19 and Feb. 2.
“I am very excited about this statue being displayed for the Anaheim
races,” said McGrath. “This race was always my favorite, and I am
honored to have something that means so much to me on display to be
seen by so many supercross fans.”
Commissioned by Live Nation Motor Sports, Inc., and crafted by artist
Steve Posson, the McGrath sculpture will be placed in a prime viewing
area of the main entrance to Angel Stadium, where McGrath won a record
eight AMA Supercross main events.
“There isn’t a more deserving place to host the Jeremy McGrath sculpture
than Angel Stadium,” explained Roy Janson, vice president of operations,
Live Nation Motor Sports, Inc. “Angel Stadium became Jeremy’s ‘home
away from home’ throughout the ‘90s and into new millennium. Live
Nation Motor Sports, Inc., wanted to not only recognize his career but
also the fans of Southern California to share in remembering our great
champion.”
At a ceremony in July of 2007, the Jeremy McGrath sculpture was
unveiled at the Motorcycle Hall of Fame Museum in Pickerington, Ohio,
and added to the Museum’s permanent collection.
In addition to his seven AMA Supercross titles, McGrath retired after the
2003 season with a record 72 main events wins to go along with his 1995
