Stoner completes practice hat-trick

Stoner continues to set scorching pace
World champion Casey Stoner continues to set the pace ahead of
tomorrow's Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix.

Stoner again slid from beneath his Ducati but rejoined the field in
the practice session to finish the period on top of the timesheets.

The 21-year-old eclipsed French Kawasaki rider Randy De Puniet,
who was a surprise second fastest.

De Puniet's Australian teammate Anthony West struggled during
the session to finish ninth fastest but was well ahead of fellow
Queenslander Chris Vermeulen.

Vermeulen, who was second in the Australian round last year,
battled on his Suzuki, eventually clocking a time which left him
more than two seconds off the pace.

Stoner will be chasing his first Australian GP win tomorrow and
his ninth victory for the season. AAP/brisbanetimes.com.au
