Local Rider Chris Fillmore Hopes to Continue his Success
AMA Supermoto invades the Waterford Hills Road Course,
located in Clarkston, Mich., on July 7-8 for the fourth round
of the 10- round AMA Supermoto Championship.
This year's event marks second year the AMA Supermoto
Championship has visited the Waterford Hills Road Coarse.
In 2006 Troy Lee Designs Honda's Jeff Ward (#1) and
Graves Yamaha's Doug Henry split race wins in the AMA
Supermoto class doubleheader, while KTM's Micky Dymond
came though with the victory in the Supermoto Unlimited
class. Honda's Cassidy Anderson held off the competition
to capture the Supermoto Lites win.
Fillmore (#11) , who resides in nearby Oxford, is currently
sitting in 4th place in the AMA Red Bull Supermoto class
standings. Last weekend, Fillmore raced to his best finish
of the season, earning third place.
Fillmore hopes to carry his momentum into his hometown
race.
"Utah was a great race for me," said Fillmore. "So far this
season I have had some tough luck, but making the podium
last (race) just made it seem like everything is all coming
together. The plan for Waterford Hills is to just give it my
all, and keep moving up into the top spot".
Ward and Graves Yamaha's Mark Burkhart (#6) are only
separated by one point in the AMA Red Bull Supermoto
point standings. Ward held on to earn the victory at the
first round, however, Burkhart has caught fire the last two
rounds and is on a two- race winning streak.
Factory Aprilia Rip It Energy Racing's Ben Carlson has
been dominating competition in the AMA PPG SupermotoUnlimited class presented by M&R Products. Carlson, the
2006 class champion, has a 20-point lead over Josh
Chisum, of Bakersfield, Calif., as he looks to capture
the top spot for his fourth straight time.
Round three of AMA Hot Wheels Supermoto Lites racing
saw Troy Lee Designs Honda rider David Pingree win his
first race of the season, which was only the second
Supermoto Lites win of his career. Graves Yamaha's
Brandon Currie team holds a slim three-point lead over
Pingree in the AMA Hot Wheels Supermoto Lites class
Championship.
